One of Antigua's main form of recreation is sports. Cricket, a game of British origins, and soccer (called football here in the Caribbean) are the two major games played here. Softball, a variation of cricket using a tennis type ball, is favored by females. Tennis, golf, and basketball are also played by nationals and visitors. Sailing is also a major sporting event, with many yachts and boats available island wide.
